This painting is one of five commissioned for the ABC televsion special "The Most Dramatic Holes in Golf," hosted by Jack Nicklaus.
In 1957, Herbert Warren Wind coined the term Amen Corner to describe this famous view of the 11th Hole, the short 12th, and the first half of the 13th, borrowing the name from an old jazz recording, "Shouting at the Amen Corner." His expression caught on perhaps because, as Dave Marr once suggested, "If you get through these three holes in even par, you believe a bit more in God." |
