"I really enjoy painting golf landscape. It is some of the most beautiful and varied landscape in the world combined with a deep, historical sense of tradition that transcends time. The painting is a success when both elements emerge." -Linda Hartough

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (September 4, 2018) – Linda Hartough, world-renowned golf-landscape artist (www.hartough.com), and a 2017 inductee into the Lowcountry Golf Hall of Fame, has completed the second in her series of original oil paintings: the 6th Hole at the Seaside Golf Course at Sea Island Golf Club – in honor of the 2018 RSM Classic.

“The Seaside Golf Course at Sea Island Golf Club is a magnificent layout,” said Hartough. “The sixth hole presents arresting views and wonderful challenges to the golfer.”

“I truly enjoyed painting this unforgettable hole.”

The series of three works was commissioned by RSM US LLP (“RSM”), sponsor of The RSM Classic, an official PGA Tour event. Three different holes of the Seaside Golf Course will be depicted in Hartough’s series, commemorating the 2017, 2018 and 2019 tournaments. The first painting in the series featured the 4th Hole at the Seaside Golf Course.

The Seaside Golf Course is memorable not only for the Tour players competing in The RSM Classic, but also for every golfer who ever plays it.

A small number of limited-edition commemorative prints of Hartough’s painting of the Sixth Hole at the Seaside Golf Course have been created, signed and numbered by the artist for distribution to sponsors and special guests of the tournament, as were commemorative prints of the 4th Hole, the first of the series. Some of the prints are being given to the Davis Love Foundation, established by Love in 2005 to support national and community-based programs focusing on children and their families. In 2010, the Davis Love Foundation partnered with the PGA Tour to become the Host Organization of The RSM Classic.

In 2001, Hartough did an original oil painting of the 13th Hole at the Seaside Golf Course at Sea Island Golf Club.

About the Seaside Course at Sea Island Golf Club

The Seaside Course allows golfers to play in the tradition of legendary Scottish links style, surrounded by tidal creeks, dunes, salt marshes and the Atlantic Ocean, with a playing experience that is both challenging and enjoyable. The course is a Tom Fazio re-design of the 1929 classic by famous golf course architects Harry S. Colt and Charles Alison. Along with the Plantation, Course, it is the home of the PGA Tour’s RSM Classic, a FedEx Cup event hosted by Sea Island touring professional Davis Love III.

About Linda Hartough

A confirmed artist since childhood, early in her career Hartough painted landscapes, portraits and horses. In 1984, Augusta National Golf Club commissioned her to paint its famous 13th hole, an event which propelled Hartough toward specialization as a golf-landscape painter. Since then, her work has achieved a distinguished status, displayed in the permanent collections of such legendary clubs as Augusta National, Laurel Valley, Pinehurst and Pine Valley, as well as in the personal collections of such golf notables as Jack Nicklaus, Raymond Floyd and Rees Jones. Her work is included in the collections of the USGA Museum, in Far Hills, New Jersey, and the Morris Museum of Art, in Augusta, Georgia.

Known for extraordinary attention to detail in her recreation of some of golf’s most beautiful holes, Hartough imbues her paintings with admiration for the scenery’s natural beauty and respect for the game’s history and tradition, elements which seem to emerge from the canvas.

Hartough’s paintings of various holes at Augusta National Golf Club are prized by collectors the world over. In addition, Hartough painted the first of her U.S. Open series in 1990 – commissioned by the U.S. Golf Association – a 25-year series she completed in 2014, as well as her official British Open Championship series, from 1990-1999.

Hartough has been honored with the Golf Digest Lifetime Achievement Award. She is a Founding Trustee of the Academy of Golf Art, a professional society of golf artists established in 2004 to create an awareness and appreciation of golf art as a valuable segment of fine art.
